I got together with Kara and Rusty last week at the Presidio Park above Old Town for their engagement session. As of this writing, the wedding itself is only six days away, and I can’t believe it’s almost November already! Yikes! Kara and Rusty are both in the medical profession, so scheduling was a bit of a challenge, but I’m really glad we were able to get together -though I’m sorry Rusty missed the first half of the Charger game for the session! This was my first request for engagement photos at Presidio Park, so I enjoyed doing something different that didn’t involve getting sand in my camera.  I can already tell that Kara and Rusty are going to be a lot of fun to shoot on the wedding day!

This was a bit of a different sort of shoot for me, which I think made it even more fun! April is a friend of my former client and now friend-and-fellow-shooter Holly. The idea was to get together at the Hard Rock hotel with April to create some “Boudoir” style images for her and then just enjoy hanging out in the Gaslamp Quarter. We got a bit of a late start on the night, but we did take advantage of the last few moments of natural light coming into our south facing room for some Beautiful shots of April. Some of what I’m posting below may be a bit risque’ compared to my usual, so just beware. : )

 We took the elevator downstairs to 6th Avenue in the Gaslamp, sometime afte 1 a.m. to grab a few street shots with April, and her man Jason

We ended up having breakfast at the Hard Rock hotel the next morning and shooting a little more while walking off our Eggs Benedict and French Toast.

I had the pleasure of photographing the wedding of Kim and Stuart at L’Auberge, Del Mar on September 25. I’m always thinking about how lucky I am to have such cool clients, and it’s people like Kim and Stuart the really remind me of how lucky I am to be doing what I’m doing. It was a joy to spend the day with so many warm and friendly from both sides of the bridal party. I truly wish the best for Kim and Stuart as they begin this new phase of their lives together.

I always enjoy the father daughter dance (maybe because I have a little girl) but this was special for me because I had met Brian, the father of the Bride, nearly 20 years ago when we worked in a common industry.  I hadn’t seen him since then, and booking this wedding was purely ‘coincedental’ in that regard, so it was a real treat to be part of this moment for both Kim, and my old acquaintance Brian.

Much of the rest of the night was in Kim’s words “DanceFest 2008!” 

We took advantage of the new waterfall at L’Auberge to create a nice series of closing images for the night.
